AI Training and AI Literacy

AI literacy training for Irish SMEs.

The AI Literacy Workshop is hands-on AI training that teaches your staff to use AI tools well and safely, practising on your own documents. It is for Irish businesses whose people already use ChatGPT or similar tools without training or an agreed policy. It is also for owners who want to learn the tools first. It runs as one session. Half day, 3 hours: €950. Full day, 6 hours: €1,650. For teams that want more than one session, there is the Education Track. From €3,200 per programme. Prices exclude VAT; training may be VAT-exempt, which we are still confirming. For owners and boards, the Leadership AI Briefing lasts 2 hours and costs €450, excluding VAT, which is added at the standard rate.

Who it is for

Check whether this matches your business.

You run an Irish business, and AI tools have arrived before any plan for them. This page is for you if one of these sounds familiar:

  • Your staff already use ChatGPT or similar tools, each in their own way, and nobody has agreed how.
  • Nobody has agreed what company data is safe to paste into these tools.
  • You have read that the EU AI Act asks for "AI literacy", and you want to know what that means for you.
  • You own the business and want AI training for yourself before you set rules for others.

We work across Ireland, remotely first and on site by arrangement.

The problem

What you are dealing with today.

You keep seeing "AI literacy training" and "AI Act training requirements", and you are not sure what your business has to do. Meanwhile your people are already using the tools.

What you want is simple. Staff who use AI tools well, a clear rule on company data, and a straight account of what the law asks. You do not want a course built for job seekers, and you do not want to be frightened into buying one.

What we do

The work, step by step.

Piotr, one of the two founders, leads the training. It is hands-on, with your team on site or online. In the workshop we:

  1. Show what the tools are good at and what they are bad at.
  2. Agree safe use with company data.
  3. Cover hallucination: what it is, and how to check an answer before you rely on it.
  4. Practise prompts on your own documents, not made-up examples.
  5. Draft an AI use policy with you.

The half day and the full day cover the same topics.

For teams that want to go further than one workshop, the Education Track has three programmes:

  • a four-session team programme
  • a manager programme on running AI-assisted work
  • train-the-trainer for your internal AI champion

The Leadership AI Briefing is for owners and boards. It covers where AI pays in your sector, what it costs, what the law asks, and how to decide.

What you get

A written handover comes with every engagement.

From either workshop:

  • a team that has practised on your own documents
  • a working sense of what the tools are good and bad at
  • a shared rule for safe use with company data
  • an AI use policy draft

From the Education Track: one or more of its three programmes, priced per programme.

Timeline

How long the work takes.

The workshop is a single session, in one of two lengths:

  • Half day, 3 hours (€950)
  • Full day, 6 hours (€1,650)

The Education Track has no fixed length. The team programme runs as four sessions.

The Leadership AI Briefing lasts 2 hours.

Funding fit

Grants that may pay part of this work.

Skillnet Ireland's Upskill SME Training Grant helps small and medium firms with the cost of staff time spent in AI training. Skillnet Ireland's own pages say:

  • It helps a business "recover the salary costs of employees for the days they spend participating in AI training".
  • "The available grant is €204.30 per training day per employee".
  • The grant is capped by company size: €5,000 for a micro firm, €15,000 for a small firm and €25,000 for a medium firm.
  • It covers AI training only.
  • Its funding window runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 December 2026. "Claims may be submitted up to 15 January 2027 for eligible training completed on or before 31 December 2026."
  • It is a pilot, and funding is given on a "first-approved, first-funded" basis.

What it does not fund:

  • "Training fees are not eligible for the Upskill SME Training Grant." The grant does not pay for the workshop itself.
  • Training must come from an approved provider: Skillnet Ireland Business Networks and National Initiatives, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) or Education and Training Boards (ETBs). Wisdom Engineers is a private consultancy, and a private consultancy is not one of these.
  • Training at your company by an outside trainer "is eligible in cases where an external trainer delivers the training, and this training takes place via a Skillnet Business Network, Skillnet National Initiative, ETB or HEI". "The programme must be listed on the programme list."
  • Eligible training must be "at least one day in duration (a 'day' being defined as six hours)". Against that rule, our two workshops are:
    • Full day, 6 hours: meets it
    • Half day, 3 hours: does not meet it

So the grant never pays our fee. It could cover your staff's time only if two things were true. One of those approved providers would run our full-day workshop with us as its external trainer. The programme would be on Skillnet's programme list. Without both, the grant does not apply to our workshop. Skillnet Ireland decides eligibility; its guidelines say the eligibility stage "determines if the SME is eligible for the scheme".

We do not decide who is eligible. Each agency publishes its scheme's rules and takes questions. We never promise approval.

Frequently asked questions

The AI Literacy Workshop costs €950 for a half day and €1,650 for a full day. From €3,200 per programme for the Education Track. All prices exclude VAT. Every price is published on our pricing page.

Here is what the law says. Article 4 of the EU AI Act has applied since 2 February 2025. National market surveillance authorities supervise and enforce it from 2 August 2026. Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 replaced its wording. The new wording asks providers and deployers of AI systems to "take measures to support the development of AI literacy of their staff and other persons dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on their behalf ...". The new wording adds: "This obligation does not require providers or deployers to guarantee any specific level of AI literacy of any individual." The European Commission says "no strict requirements or mandatory trainings are imposed". It also confirms that a company whose staff use ChatGPT for work is in scope. We sell the workshop on what it does for your team: fewer mistakes, safer data handling, and staff who use the tools well.

Both workshops cover the same topics. They differ only in length and price. Choose the Education Track if you want more than one session: a four-session team programme, a manager programme, or train-the-trainer for your own AI champion.

Not the fee. Skillnet Ireland's Upskill SME Training Grant does not pay training fees. It repays part of your staff's salary cost for days spent in AI training, and only when an approved provider delivers it. The Funding fit section above sets out the rules. Skillnet Ireland decides eligibility; its guidelines say the eligibility stage "determines if the SME is eligible for the scheme".

It may be. Revenue exempts vocational training from VAT when five conditions are met. Our workshops and Education Track may meet them, but we are still confirming this with our accountant. Until then, treat it as possible, not certain.

We work remotely first and come on site by arrangement, anywhere in Ireland.
