Grow Digital Voucher (Local Enterprise Office). It does not cover custom software. The Local Enterprise Office's own page says: "Custom or bespoke software is not eligible for grant support." What it does cover:
- subscriptions to "off the shelf" business software that is new to the business, for up to one year, including "Analytics software (including AI systems)"
- training and configuration, where "Training and Configuration amount combined can be no more than 50% of the overall project cost"
The grant is "50% of eligible costs with minimum grant aid of €500 up to a maximum grant of €5,000 per application". A business can be approved for two vouchers at most. The two share one cap: "Enterprises can be approved a maximum of two Grow Digital Voucher projects up to a maximum cumulative grant value of €5,000 as identified in their Digital for Business project to support their Digitalisation journey."
It is open to small enterprises with between 1 and 50 paid employees that:
- "have completed a Digital for Business Project within the previous two years"
- "are not currently clients of Enterprise Ireland or IDA"
- "are established and trading for at least 6 months, registered, and operate within the area of the Local Enterprise Office"
- "are solvent as demonstrated in the financial statements supplied"
The page lists further conditions after these, including current tax clearance from Revenue. It also says: "An application must be submitted before any project expenditure is incurred or any project activity commences."
So a custom automation we build for you is not covered. If your workflow can run on an off-the-shelf AI tool, we can do the training and configuration. Your Local Enterprise Office decides eligibility, so ask it whether the voucher applies.
Digital Process Innovation (Enterprise Ireland). It covers "50% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum grant of €150,000". The scheme's Terms of Reference add: "The Committee may offer grant at a lower rate than the maxima above." Eligible costs include "Reasonable external consultancy costs". It has a condition that matters for automation. Its brochure says: "The project must involve some level of innovation or risk of failure and must not be focused on routine operational changes or responding to changes in regulation." Subcontracted or consultancy work can be no more than 60% of the total costs; above that, the project is ineligible. Enterprise Ireland advises talking to your Enterprise Ireland Advisor before you apply, or to your local Enterprise Ireland office if you are not a client. Enterprise Ireland decides eligibility. You cannot apply for less than €20,000 of eligible grant support, and you must apply before any work on the project starts. Our Digital Process Innovation guide sets out the other conditions.
Digital Discovery (Enterprise Ireland) pays towards "The support of an external Digital expert, for between 3 and 7 days". Its page says this "is based on training or advisory services". It supports "Guidance on the implementation of new or enhanced digital, data, automation or AI solutions". For firms that meet its rules, it may help pay for the AI Readiness Discovery that comes before a build.
We do not decide who is eligible. Each agency publishes its scheme's rules and takes questions. We never promise approval.
